Biography

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia , Pastor Cardell C. Patillo, Jr. has been favored by God to spread the message of hope. A ministerial visionary, business creative thinker, gifted communicator, life coach, teacher, author and spiritual guide to many, Cardell has dedicated his life to service.

Cardell completed his undergraduate studies attending Norfolk State University and Liberty University. He then earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and later completing the Master of Divinity program at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University (Richmond, Virginia.

In June 2004, Cardell was ordained and installed as Youth Pastor of Fourth Baptist Church where Dr. Charles W. Beamon is Pastor. He then went on to serve 8 years as the full time Youth Pastor on staff at Grove Baptist Church where Dr. Melvin O. Marriner is Senior Pastor. While at Grove, the youth ministry was a growing ministry which served over 600 youth on roll between the ages of 3 and 20. Cardell is currently the CEO of Youth Concepts, which is a consulting firm which guides churches, mental health companies and other organizations on effective youth development. 

Cardell’s love for youth and their families prompted him to author his first book enitled “How To Love Your Child Through A Divorce”.   Recognizing his devotion to the youth of the community, Cardell was elected to the Portsmouth School Board in November of 2014 and appointed to the Virginia Public School Authority Board of Commissioners by Gov. Terry McAuliffe in August of 2016. 

Cardell remains very active in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Portsmouth Schools Foundation, STARBASE Victory and was the selected as the Honorary Chairperson the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events. Cardell is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and lives his life daily according to the principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift.
